Aluminum Laminated Film Manufacturing Process Comparison

Aluminum laminated film needs to have high barrier properties, good formability, and electrolyte resistance; products are divided into two types: silver film or black film in terms of appearance.

Aluminum laminated film is divided into dry method and wet method according to different manufacturing processes. The dry method is to directly add a binder between the PP and aluminum layers to directly compound,Using insulating adhesive, without high temperature treatment to help prevent short circuit performance is better than thermal process.And the ductility of the binder itself is better than that of the PP layer, and it does not require high temperature treatment and does not affect the molding.

The thermal process is that the aluminum layer and the CPP layer are bonded with MPP before they are synthesized by hot pressing at a certain temperature.At high temperature, the van der Waals force in MPP is destroyed, aging, and the short-circuit resistance will drop sharply.At the same time, due to the destruction of its molecular structure, the toughness is reduced, and it is easy to break during the molding process.

1 Performance comparison

(1) The advantages of the dry method lie in the deep drawing and forming performance, the short-circuit prevention performance, the appearance (less impurities, pinholes, and fish eyes), and the cutting performance is good. In addition, the anti-electrolyte and water barrier are good.
(2) The advantages of the thermal method lie in the electrolyte resistance and water resistance, and its deep punching performance is poor, the short-circuit resistance performance is poor, the appearance is poor, and the cutting performance is poor.


2 Comparison of manufacturing methods
(1) Dry film: The melting temperature of CPP is generally higher than that of heat sealing, about 162 °C. The Al and CPP are bonded by adhesive and directly pressed together.
(2) Thermal method film: Thermal method CPP generally adopts lower melting point CPP, and its melting temperature is about 140 ℃. Al and CPP are bonded with MPP, and then thermally synthesized under the condition of slow temperature increase and pressure increase, and the production process is over. And due to the long-term high temperature baking effect, the Al is embrittled, resulting in a decrease in the drawing performance.
Note: There is a big difference in the melting temperature of the two aluminum-plastic film CPPs, so the dry packaging temperature is generally 10-15 °C higher than the thermal method.
