The price of lithium hexafluorophosphate soared by 30,000 yuan per ton

On April 18, DFD-Chem announced that the price of lithium hexafluorophosphate was increased by 30,000 yuan/ton, and the price for various international customers was increased by US$4,500/ton (approximately RMB 29,000). Affected by the news, Dofluorodos had a daily limit shortly after the opening on April 19 and closed at 20.93 yuan per share.

As the core raw material of power battery electrolyte, LiPF6 has continued to be in strong market demand since the second half of last year. The booming sales of new energy vehicles continue to stimulate the demand for lithium hexafluorophosphate.

From the perspective of the driving factors for the price increase of lithium hexafluorophosphate:

First, the recovery of the new energy vehicle market has exceeded expectations, which has significantly driven the demand for raw materials in the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain.

Second, the release of new production capacity is slow. Due to the high EIA qualification threshold for lithium hexafluorophosphate production, it is difficult for the number of short-term manufacturers to increase significantly. At the same time, the production line construction cycle is generally 18-20 months, and the release of production capacity takes a long time, resulting in tight supply and demand of lithium hexafluorophosphate.

Third, internationally, the overseas new energy market has maintained good momentum. Especially in the European market, the demand for domestic lithium hexafluorophosphate by overseas battery companies has increased rapidly, which has further increased the demand for lithium hexafluorophosphate in the market.
