US low-pressure vent technology reduces battery weight and cost


According to foreign media reports, the US company Gore recently announced the launch of a new technology - Gore battery pack low-pressure vents, this technology can design batteries for pure electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles (BEV / PHEV) in the future Provide flexibility when grouping. Gore's low-pressure vents provide greater freedom in battery pack design by addressing the inherent problems of lithium-ion battery components and battery packs.

Gore battery pack low pressure vent technology integrates three important protection functions on one product. The new vent has a flexible membrane that supports a low opening pressure and is designed with an overpressure bypass function that reverses overpressure and ensures that the pressure differential is quickly released under normal and harsh operating conditions, otherwise the light weight battery case can be deformed and even cause the seal to fail.

 

This feature therefore effectively manages overpressure conditions associated with thermal runaway of individual batteries or battery modules.
