This single-sidedceramic-coated separator for lithium-ion batteries adopts polyolefin PE film as the substrate. Micron-level composite ceramic particles (alumina and boehmite compound system) are coated on one single side of the base film, and the coating layer forms a compact protective barrier after high-temperature sintering treatment.
2. Core Safety Advantages
Ultra-high Thermal Insulation & Heat Resistance The sintered dense ceramic barrier can withstand temperatures over 1800°C. When thermal runaway occurs inside the battery, it effectively blocks heat transfer, significantly lowering risks of thermal propagation, ignition and explosion, and lifting the fundamental thermal safety performance of lithium cells.
Reinforced Mechanical Strength & Lithium Dendrite Suppression The ceramic coating boosts the separator’s puncture resistance by 50%. The rigid inorganic ceramic layer blocks lithium dendrites precipitated from the negative electrode from piercing the separator, preventing direct contact between positive and negative electrodes that leads to internal short circuits and battery failure.
3. Optimized Electrochemical Performances
Superior Electrolyte Absorption & Retention The separator features a 3D interconnected porous framework with pore diameters ranging from 100 nm to 500 nm. The porous structure greatly improves electrolyte adsorption and liquid retention, ensuring full electrode wetting during charge and discharge cycles.
Accelerated Ion Conduction The hydrophilic ceramic coating optimizes lithium-ion migration channels. Its ionic conductivity is 20% higher than conventional uncoated separators, reducing cell internal resistance and enhancing fast-charging capability and discharge stability.
Reduced Interfacial Side Reactions & Extended Cycle Life Inorganic ceramic particles in the coating chemically adsorb acidic by-products decomposed from electrolytes. This alleviates corrosive side reactions at the electrode-electrolyte interface, slows electrode material degradation, and extends the overall cycle lifespan of lithium batteries.
4. Appearance Standard, Handling & Storage Guidelines
Appearance Requirement The finished separator roll delivers a smooth surface with tidy winding, free of wrinkles, stains, scratches, coating missing and other visual defects, with controllable dimensional tolerance after slitting. ### Handling & Storage Notes Handle the separator gently during operation to avoid hard-object impact and coating damage. Seal unused separator back into moisture-proof packaging immediately after opening. The recommended storage environment is 25°C ±5°C with 50% relative humidity to prevent moisture and dust contamination that damages electrochemical properties.
5. Packaging Solution
Each separator roll is individually sealed in transparent white plastic bags, with the central paper tube suspended and fixed to avoid extrusion. Outer packing adopts rigid cartons printed with product specifications, batch numbers and delivery information for convenient warehousing and cross-border transportation.
